Review: Divergent ( Divergent #1) - Veronica Roth

I really don't know where to start with this review!
I absolutely loved this book and read it in one sitting because I couldn't bear to put it down!

The book follows Beatrice as she hits 16 and must make the choice every 16 year old in her society does, where she wants to spent the rest of her adult life. Before she makes that decision Beatrice and the other 16 year olds are given tests to help them decide which society they belong in, but something is wrong with Beatrice's test and from there everything starts to go wrong for her.

This is a brilliant story full of politics, prejudice and some crazy technology. And at the heart of it all is our 16 year old heroine battling with her own problems and falling in love with her instructor.

I cannot recommend this book enough, yes a lot of people may be thinking it's just another YA dystopian novel. Well yes it is, but it is a brilliant YA dystopian novel!

  1. I really need to read this. Have it on my Kindle just need to find time lol

  2. I need to read this one as well. I haven't read a bad review yet!

  3. It's such a good book, be warned though once you start it, thats it your hooked! I honestly could not put it down until I had finished it!

  4. Someone recommended this to me, but i thought exactly what you said...ANOTHER ya dystopian? no thanks. But reading your review, I might change my mind. Can you tell me an honest opinion of the appropriate age group? Some dystopian YA I've read are just too young for me and they seem silly. I dont want to name them but maybe you could give your opinion. Is this for 12-15 age group, or more 16-18? :)

  5. Lena, I would say it is aimed at the older age group, there are some dark bits to it, quite a bit of fighting and one pretty gruesome scene involving an eye and a knife!

  6. Both myself and my daughter absolutely loved this book, and can not wait for the next in the series!
