I honestly don't know where to start with this review, Second Chance Summer had me on an emotional roller-coaster from start to finish.
The story follows Taylor as her and her family head out to the lake house for one final summer together, her father is terminally ill and he wants to spent one last summer with his family in their lake house, a house that neither of them have visited in years.
The last time Taylor was there, she was twelve and left in a hurry after falling out with her best friend and her boyfriend. She hasn't heard from them since and hopes she won't run into them this summer. But it's a small town and anything can happen!
I love Morgan Matson's writing, right from the first word I was caught up in Taylor's world and could not put the book down. I felt like I was part of the world that was unravelling all around me. The way things are described in the book made me feel like I was there, right beside Taylor throughout the entire book.
I don't think I've ever cried so hard at a book before. Yes I've cried here and there with other books when characters I loved died, but honestly this book had in big, hiccup inducing, full out sobs!
Don't think that this book is all sad and depressing, believe me it isn't! There are a number of parts that has me laughing, I mean holding my belly because it was so sore type of laughing.
By the end of the book I knew the characters so well, I was a little sad that their story was over.
Second Chance Summer is a brilliant read which takes you on an emotional journey through one girl's summer.
I loved it, it's the perfect book for summer reading!
I want to say a massive thank you for Simon and Schuster UK for sending me a review copy of Second Chance Summer!
